The town of Reston may often be overlooked as a place to go on a Friday night. While it is a residential area for most people, and kid-friendly to families looking to get out of the house, Reston Town Center has its fair share of entertainment and dining to keep you busy. On a summer night, crowds are often spotted at the large fountain in the middle of the town square, surrounded by restaurants in walking distance with lots of outdoor seating and various cuisines. The movie theaters were recently remodeled and live music or movie screenings are sometimes shown where the Reston Ice Rink usually resides in the winter. Check out these suggestions for what to do in Reston this weekend:

Free Tunes:

Stop by McCormick and Schmicks every Friday night at 7-10 p.m. for live music out on the patio. You can either hear the music as you walk by, or you can sit down at the restaurant and enjoy drinks and food outside while enjoying the music that varies by genre, but is often rock and roll.

Cult Classics:

Bow Tie Cinemas at Reston Town Center is going old school by bringing cult favorites back to the big screen every Friday and Saturday night starting at 11:30 p.m. Grab the popcorn and enjoy! This weekend, catch “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” starring a much younger Sean Penn.

Cheers:

The sleek and modern atmosphere of The Tasting Room Wine Bar and Shop makes for a classy night out sipping some great wines from around the world and Virginia. On Saturday nights, live music keeps the energy upbeat late into the night.

Authentic Dining:

For a tasty dinner, try Uncle Julio’s for authentic Mexican food and drinks. Plenty of outdoor seating makes this restaurant a popular spot to hit when it is nice outside, and a lengthy kids menu makes it very family-friendly. Adults, though, are going to want to try their famous Swirl margaritas.

Shop Till You Drop:

Both men and women will find fashions suited just for them at J Crew, Anthropologie, South Moon Under, Francesca’s, Gap and more.
