The holidays are here, so it’s time to be of good cheer. Silly rhymes aside, once you break out the turkey this Thursday, yuletide excitement will be upon us in full force. You may hang up ornaments around the house, invest in a carton of egg nog or even begin your Christmas shopping. Aside from scrambling with the hordes of other consumers struggling to get the best deals, you ought to do something fun and festive on this Black Friday. What better venue than Reston Town Center’s Holiday Parade. Spanning the course of the entire day, this fun-filled celebration for the entire family is a perfectly joyous way of kicking off the holiday season.
Opened in the early morning will be the Gingerbread Man Mile and Tot Trot, where your little one can run with their friends and get into the spirit. Then hang back and watch the promenade of the Holiday Parade, replete with giant balloons of your favorite characters, culminating in Santa swinging by on his sled! Then at 5 p.m. there will be a performance by “Santa’s Frosty Follies,” followed by the lighting of the tree and sing-along – cross your fingers everyone sings Grinch-favorite “Fahoo Dores.”
Throw in ice skating at the town center’s rink and horse-drawn carriage rides for a suitably magical experience. So if you’re just now beginning to plan how you will be spending the beginning of your holidays, add this to the list and check it twice.
