Northern Virginia residents know the winter and holiday season are near as the family-favorite Reston Town Center Ice Skating Pavilion opens for the season this weekend on Nov. 3. From early November through the second week of March (weather permitting), the Pavilion floor is converted to a beautiful ice skating rink.
This weekend, 50 percent of the ice skating proceeds will be donated to benefit Character Counts. Character Counts is the nation’s most popular character education program and reaches millions of youth in schools and non-profit programs. The program operates on the six pillars of character education: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship, and is widely practiced throughout schools in the NoVA region.
Throughout the season, there is regularly scheduled family fun at the Ice Skating Pavilion. Every Saturday morning from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., families can participate in Saturday Morning Cartoon Skate and share the ice with favorite characters such as Scooby-Doo, Tweety Bird, the Cat in the Hat and more. On Friday nights, Rock’n Skate brings in a blast of excitement with a live DJ, games and prizes for skaters from 8-11 p.m.
Skate rentals for both figure and hockey skates are offered for a fee. Admission for adults is $9 and $7 for children under 12 and seniors. Season passes for individuals and families and discount cards are also available for purchase.
Please call the hotline at 703-709-6300 for the latest updates and visit the official Pavilion and Skating website for additional information.
